Rowers and Scullers:

Where is the club's launch site?
The Erie Canal Rowing Club launch site is in southeast Rome at the Riverside Marina & Storage , 6805 Martin St.  See map link at the bottom of the page.  Our docks are in the back left part of the marina.  They can be seen after we drive along the right side of the parking lot behind the closed gas station.  Look for them on the back left of the marina.

Rowing is allowed during daylight hours only. Any local lightning cancels all rowing opportunities. Members who have completed the “Learn to Row” program can use the
club boats; singles, double, fours and eight, whenever they can fit it in their schedule and get the required crew and coxswain together. Arrangements for group rowing other than Wednesday nights varies and is up to the membership to self organize.  The director of rowing can help, but is not responsible for making these arrangements.  Any time rowers go out, other than Wednesday night, the safety launch will not be available unless announced as part of a scheduled row. Members are asked to sign in their departures and returns at the “sign in” station found on the side of the club's shell trailer. The “sign in” station is similar to the trailhead “sign in” stations found throughout N.Y.S. parks and recreation sites.

How many weeks does the "Learn To Row" program run
?
The "Learn To Row" Program generally runs until the coach feels that the students have acquired enough skill and confidence to row with other more experienced rowers.  Additional payment is not required to complete the first year after a student has finished with the "Learn To Row" program.

What about sculling
?
Sculling (two oars per person, rather than one oar per person) requires additional practice and generally can be coached on Wednesday night along with the other activities, but other arrangements can often be made.  The club does maintain a training single and a more advanced single.

What ages participate
?
We have had members from numerous age groups; high school, college, and all adult ages.  The number of members in all age groups varies from year to year.

Pay your annual due
s (checks only).   Go to "home", click "application" and download the application, liability release, and parental permission (if applicable).  Fill them out and send them in to the address listed.  This is especially true for new members.  We need your release forms before you can use club equipment.
